Duchamp Design Team
The light floods in through the windows of the design studio at Duchamp. The fragmented summer light scattered across the floor feels fitting when discussing the light airy, inspiration behind this years debut collection, Resort 22.
Resort 22 is a collection inspired first by the nostalgia of holidays, the sense of freedom and lightness you feel within when you’re on a Mediterranean holiday.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the relaxed silhouettes and the easy fabrication which feels ready to be lived in, Duchamp's head of design says “The islands of Greece have inspired both print and fabric. Floor tiles become shirts and there is a sense of freedom and fun”. Featuring lightweight summer ready linen and cotton poplin there is a certain airiness throughout the range.
With their backgrounds in high-end menswear, the team explain "the tailoring is evolved and casually influenced, yet garments still utilise expert construction techniques and hand finishing." The idea of this skilled construction blended with a relaxed wearing experiences paves way to a shift, a focus toward comfort and versatility for the wearer, whilst still being underwritten by all that is recognisable as Duchamp.
Within the new collection a sense of approachability brings a refined playfulness to the brand, “It’s Duchamp as you know it, but there’s something elevated” The head of design tells us, and of future collections, he explains, “There’s so much more to come!”
